What is the difference between Uzbekistan eVisa and traditional visa?

The eVisa is a fully digital visa allowing travelers from over 70 eligible countries to apply online without visiting an embassy or consulate. The entire application process takes approximately 15 minutes through the official portal at e-visa.gov.uz, with approval typically within three business days via email.

In contrast, a traditional sticker visa requires in-person embassy appointments, more extensive documentation, and longer processing times, often ranging from 5 to 10 business days or more, depending on the applicant’s nationality and visa type. Traditional visas are necessary for stays longer than 30 days, non-tourist purposes (business, student, medical), or if your nationality isn't eligible for the eVisa.

Key eVisa advantages:

  • No embassy visits required—entirely online application
  • Processing completed in three business days
  • Lower cost: $20 (single), $35 (double), $50 (multiple entry)
  • Valid for 90 days from issuance with stays up to 30 days
  • Payment is typically accepted via international credit or debit cards such as Visa or MasterCard.

Note: It’s important to note that the Uzbekistan eVisa cannot be extended once issued and is intended primarily for short-term tourist visits.

The eVisa arrives as a PDF document you can print or display electronically when entering Uzbekistan. Traditional visas offer more flexibility for complex travel plans, including multiple-entry business visas valid up to one year, but require significantly more effort and typically higher fees.
