Can I apply for an Uzbekistan visa extension online?
Yes, foreign citizens and stateless persons can now submit visa extension applications online through the Unified Interactive Public Services Portal at my.gov.uz. This digital system significantly reduces in-person procedures, although applicants are still required to submit their physical passport to the local migration office after online approval.
To access the service, log into my.gov.uz and navigate to the "Citizenship" section, then select "Visa extension for foreign citizens and stateless persons temporarily staying in Uzbekistan". You'll complete an electronic form with your passport details, current visa information, and justification for the extension.
Required uploads include:
- Clear digital copy of your passport or travel document
- Supporting documents confirming the reason for extension, which may vary depending on the visa type and individual circumstances
- Notarized power of attorney (if applying through a representative)
Applicants are advised to submit the extension request at least 10 days before the current visa expires to allow sufficient processing time. A close relative or authorized representative who is a citizen of Uzbekistan may submit the application on your behalf with proper notarized authorization.
Applications are reviewed by the Migration Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs through the public services system, typically within 15 working days. Upon approval, you will receive an online payment receipt for the state fee and will then be required to submit your physical passport to the local migration office for the visa extension to be officially endorsed.
