How To Get From Kuching To Bako National Park?

Getting to Bako National Park from Kuching involves a two-part journey, as there is no direct road access to the park entrance.

Part 1: Overland to Bako Village First, you need to travel from Kuching city to the Bako Boat Terminal in Kampung Bako (Bako Village). This 37-kilometer journey takes about 45 minutes to an hour.

  • By Bus: The most economical option is the red public bus (No. K6), which departs from the waterfront area in Kuching.
  • By Taxi or Ride-Hailing: For more convenience and speed, you can take a taxi or use a ride-hailing app like Grab. This will take you directly to the boat terminal.

Part 2: Boat to the Park Headquarters From the Bako Boat Terminal, the final leg of the journey is by a small, motorized boat.

  • The boat ride takes about 20 to 30 minutes along the coast, offering scenic views of sea stacks and mangrove forests.
  • You must register and purchase your boat ticket at the terminal before boarding. These boats are operated by the local community.

Upon arriving at the park's jetty, you will need to register again at the Park Headquarters and pay the national park entrance fee. Be aware that boat services are subject to tide levels and weather conditions, so some flexibility in your schedule is advised.
